Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn, NY 11238
We live just up the street from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, yet somehow, we don’t visit as often as we should. The last two times we came were for a dear friend’s wedding and then during a quiet snowy winter day when the garden felt like a tranquil, snow-covered oasis, the world muffled by the soft blanket of white.
This spring, we had been eagerly planning to return for the cherry blossoms, so when we received an email announcing the peak bloom on Friday, we decided to take a walk over after lunch. Despite the number of visitors, it never felt overcrowded. Instead, there was this soft hum of life all around us — an energy that felt gentle and inviting, never overwhelming. The weather was absolutely perfect — sunny but not too hot, with just enough breeze to keep things fresh. The garden felt especially well-tended this season, each flower and tree thriving in their own time.
As we strolled through the cherry blossom groves, I couldn’t help but reflect on the seasons of life. Timing — whether in nature or in ourselves — is so crucial. There’s a certain beauty in how everything comes into bloom at its own pace. Some moments feel like they arrive effortlessly, while others need a little more tending. The cherry blossoms themselves, with their delicate petals and fleeting beauty, felt like a reminder that some of the most meaningful moments are also the most transient.
I’ll share more on this reflection soon, but for now, I’m grateful for this soft return to the garden, a quiet pause in the rhythm of the seasons. It was a much-needed reminder to slow down and appreciate the fleeting beauty of these simple, yet profound, moments.
